2 Alarm Fire At Biotech Building On Industrial Way In WIlmington
Unconfirmed scanner reports said there was a hazmat situation. 33 Industrial Way is the site of ChemGenes, a biotech company.
WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington firefighters responded to a 2 alarm fire on 33 Industrial Way, a department official confirmed. Reports said that firefighters took precautions for hazardous materials, but no details were available.
WCVB-TV reported that firefighters are "using hazardous materials precautions," and according to the Lowell Sun, officials confirmed a level one Hazmat team was requested. The Sun also reported that there were no injuries.
Crews from other area departments provided assistance.

Update: Fire spread to a hazardous waste barrel, requiring the district 6 hazmat crew to be called in, Deputy Chief William Cavanaugh said Monday.
