WILMINGTON, MA -- Wilmington kids head back to school on Tuesday. Kindergartners get a reprieve, however: they don't start until Wednesday, Sept. 5. There are some big changes in the district this year, but none bigger than the new superintendent

Meet The New Superintendent

Dr. Glenn Brand is starting his first year as superintendent. Brand has scheduled a series of meetings to meet parents and discuss their concerns. The schedule for those meetings follows:

• 9:30 am on Monday, Oct. 1 at the Woburn Street School Cafeteria
• 6:30 pm on Wednesday, Oct. 3 in Wilmington High School’s Large Group Instruction Room
• 6:30 pm on Tuesday, Oct. 16 in the Shawsheen Cafeteria
• 6:30 pm on Thursday, October 25 in the Wilmington Middle School Auditorium

"These forums are intended to be informal opportunities for me to meet members of our community and learn more about our community’s perspectives regarding the school system and its future," Brand said.

Parent Survey

Brand is also asking parents to complete a brief, seven-question, online survey by September 9. Responses are kept anonymous.

School Hours

• High School: 7:40 a.m. to 2:05 p.m.
• Middle School: 7:20 a.m. to 1:40 p.m.
• North Intermediate: 8:20 a.m. to 2:25 p.m.
• West Intermediate: 8:55 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
• Shawsheen School: 8:55 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
• Woburn St. School: 8:20 a.m. to 2:25 p.m.
• Wildwood Kindergarten: 8:50 a.m. to 2:05 p.m.
• Wildwood Preschool: 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 11:35 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
• Boutwell Kindergarten: 8:00 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.
• Boutwell Preschool: 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and 11:05 a.m. to 1:35 p.m.

On early release days, schools will be dismissed at the following times:

• Boutwell – 10:15
• Middle School – 10:40
• High School – 11:05
• Wildwood – 11:05
• Woburn Street – 11:25
• North Intermediate – 11:25
• Shawsheen – 12:00
• West Intermediate – 12:00

See the district's calendar for early release days and other days school is not in session.

Other Important Information

The district has not published bus route information, but it is expected later this week. See the bus information page on the Wilmington Public Schools Website.

The district has published its menus through the end of September.
