Wilmington Boy Had Explosives, Threatened Student
A 13-year-old middle school student was arrested after police discovered a homemade explosive device in his home.

WILMINTON – A 13-year-old boy has been charged with making threats to a student at Wilmington Middle School and possessing explosive devices, Middlesex DA Marian Ryan and Wilmington Police Chief Michael Begonis announced Thursday.
The boy, a student at Wilmington Middle School, has been charged with three counts of possession of an explosive device, possession of a counterfeit note and threatening to commit a crime.
A student at Wilmington Middle School reported Wednesday receiving threatening messages over social media from the boy. School officials reported the incident to Wilmington Police. (Subscribe to Wilmington Patch for more local news.)

Police discovered an apparent homemade explosive device as well as gun powder and other material allegedly used to make the device at his the boy's home. Police then secured the residence and out of an abundance of caution searched the school. No devices were located at the school.
The boy will be arraigned in Lowell Juvenile Court.
