WILMINGTON, MA — Town officials are still awaiting a response from the state to their request for help with the AdviniaCare nursing home coronavirus outbreak, Board of Selectmen Chair Greg Bendel said at the Board's meeting Monday evening. The state is aware of and is "monitoring" the situation, but has yet to share specifics.

The most likely source of additional staff is Partners Healthcare, Town Manager Jeffrey Hull said.

The town requested help with the outbreak Thursday, after the facility reported that seven residents had died after testing positive for the virus. As of Monday night, that number had doubled, Health Director Shelley Newhouse said.

Town officials are in regular contact with the facility's operator, helping to get resources to the facility and to help people get in touch with loved ones who live at the facility.

Newhouse said she hoped this week and next week will be the "hardest hit" in town, after which numbers may level off or decline.
