Wilmington Gives Wakefield the Boot [VIDEO]

Girls soccer dominated offensively, earns 2-0 win.

The Wilmington High School girls soccer team has been streaking in the early portions of the season, and on Monday night the Lady Wildcats continued that hot start with a 2-0 win over visiting Wakefield.

Head coach Sue Hendee's charges are now 5-1-2 in their first year in the Middlesex League.

Rachel Grabar netted the first goal of the game with 12:29 to play before halftime.

Though Wilmington dominated the offensive end of the field, the score remaining the same until the final 30 seconds of the game when Holly Niemiec lofted home the clinching goal from deep.

Goaltender Sarah Luz was not tested often, but she came up with a diving stop on a breakaway early in the second half that preserved the shutout.
