Wilmington Has Just Under 600 Car Crashes Per Year

The town has had basically level car crash rates since 2016.

WILMINGTON, MA — There were 584 motor vehicle crashes in Wilmington last year, basically level with the last four years. In 2016, the town jumped to 587 crashes, from 546 in 2015, according to Massachusetts Department of Transportation data. The highest number of crashes in data going back to 2007 was in 2008: 668.

The steady crash rate in Wilmington bucks state trends. Across Massachusetts, the total number of crashes dropped slightly in 2019 and 2018 after increasing in each of the eight previous years.

In 2019, no crashed in Wilmington caused fatal injuries, while 14 caused serious injuries and 86 minor injuries. 44 crashes had possible or unknown injuries, according to the data. The good news: the bulk of the crashes, 440, saw no injuries.
