Wilmington Library To Host "Living With Coyotes" Talk

John Maguranis, a Belmont animal control officer and former U.S. Army vet tech, is on a campaign about coexisting with coyotes

WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington Memorial Library will host a talk on coexisting with coyotes on Jan. 8. 'Living With Coyotoes' will feature John Maguranis, a Belmont animal control officer and former U.S. Army veterinary technician. Maguranis is a representative of Project Coyote, a non-profit organization that encourages conservation and coexistence with coyotes.

The talk is scheduled to run from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the library's large conference room. Registration is required, available here.

The eastern coyote is found in every area of Massachusetts except the islands, according to the state. They "thrive in suburban, urban and rural areas." It is incredibly rare for coyotes to attack humans, although they will feed on pets like cats and small dogs.

According to his Project Coyote biography, Maguranis has given over 100 presentations on living with coyotes.

The state of Massachusetts banned coyote killing contests on Dec. 18.
