Wilmington Looks To Fill Vacant School Committee Seat
Jesse Fennelly, who lost a three-way race for two seats on the school committee in April, said he will seek to fill the vacancy.

WILMINGTON, MA -- The Wilmington School Committee and the board of selectmen will have at least one choices when they meet August 13 to fill a vacant school committee seat. Jessee Fennelly told Patch Thursday morning that he had sent a letter of interest to fill the seat that opened when Peggy Kane resigned last month. Fennelly lost a three-way race for two open seats in April's town election.
Fennelly got 926 votes in May's election falling to incumbent M.J. Byrnes (1,675 votes) and David Ragsdale (1,325 votes). Read Patch's candidate profile of Fennelly that was published prior to the April election.
Kane served on the school committee for 18 years before announcing her resignation at the end of the meeting on June 13. Kane attributed her sudden departure to "recent events in my life."

Residents interested in filling out the remainder of Kane's term should submit letters of interest to Town Manager Jeffrey Hull. Candidates must receive a majority vote from the two bards to fill the seat.
