WILMINGTON, MA -- A Wilmington man is facing multiple charges after allegedly stealing a truck from Express Movers on Waltham Street, assaulting an employee after returning the vehicle and then fleeing from police on Sunday afternoon. Wilmington Police charged Patrick James Carroll, 35, of 196 Saelm Street #3 in Wilmington, with breaking and entering to commit a felony, use of a motor vehicle without permission and two counts of assault and battery.
According to the Wilmington Police log, police were called to the Express Movers location on Sunday at 12:58 pm after an employee noticed a white Isuzu truck was missing and that a fence had been pulled back in an area where the business stored keys to its vehicles. While police started looking for the truck, Carroll returned to Express Movers and assaulted an employee. He then ran into the woods behind the building and down the train tracks.
Police called Amtrac to delay trains through the area. Canine units from the Massachusetts State Police and the Billerica Police Department were brought in to assist with the search. Carroll was arrested a short time later when he was found in a marshy area behind the building and held on $5,000 bail.
