Wilmington Man Dies In NH Crane Accident

Alfred Rongone, 82, was the owner of Wilmington-based A. Rongone & Sons Inc.

WILMINGTON, MA — The owner of a Wilmington-based construction company died from injuries sustained in a construction site accident in Chester, NH Monday. Alfred Rongone, 82, of Wilmington, was working on the engine of a crane in a sandpit behind an under-construction retirement community when the machine fell on top of him. Rongone, who owned A. Rongone & Sons Inc., was pronounced dead at the scene.

Chester, NH Police said a preliminary investigation shows that the death was accidental. The family-owned company has been in business for 60 years and has worked on a wide range of construction projects in New England.

“[Work] was the only thing that kept him going… That was his life, was his work,” Rongone’s son Allen told NECN. “He would’ve been happy with going out that way… Yup, right there on his crane.”
