Police responded to a shots fired call at the Motel on June 5. When they arrived, they found a shell casing and viewed surveillance video that showed Boidi and Donovan arguing with a man. Police said the video showed Boidi drawing a .22 caliber pistol, which was later found in his car, and firing the weapon.

Donovan, who was arrested for assault and battery on a police officer, misleading a police officer, resisting arrest, and two warrants for shoplifting and larceny, allegedly gave police a false name when questioned and kicked one of the arresting police detectives.
