Wilmington Police Nab "Aspiring NASCAR Driver" In Response To Resident Complaints
The 23-year-old Dracut man was doing 61 mph in a 35 mph zone and driving with an open container of beer.
WILMINGTON, MA -- The blue, 2010 Ford Mustang raced down Wildwood Street in Wilmington late on enough nights that neighbors complained to the Wilmington Police Department. In a Facebook post, the police department reported that they finally caught the driver, and showed that they have a sense of humor as well.
"Eventually you're going to get caught!" the department warned. "The WPD Traffic Unit recently received information regarding a vehicle habitually speeding late at night on Wildwood Street...Several attempts were made to locate and identify the offender. Last night, Officers Furbush and Cruz set up on Wildwood Street to attempt to identify the aspiring NASCAR driver."

It didn't take long for the officer to pull over a 23-year-old Dracut man who w doing 61 mph in a 35 mph speed limit zone. From there, things went downhill for the man, whose name was not released: police say he spilled an open beer that he was trying to hard from police all over the backseat of his car.
The officers performed field sobriety tests and determined that the driver was not intoxicated. He was sent on his way with hefty citations for speeding and open container law violations.

"Please remember, not only can speeding be expensive, but it can be dangerous. Speeding while drinking...well that's just a recipe for disaster," Wilmington Police wrote on Facebook. "Luckily we are able to catch this driver before someone got hurt."
