Wilmington Receives $300K Federal Grant For Pandemic-Hit Businesses

The town has received federal funds to help business owners improve storefronts.

WILMINGTON, MA — The town has received a $300,000 from the federal American Rescue Plan Act for storefront improvement grants for Wilmington businesses that were impacted during the Covid-19 pandemic, according to a statement from the town.

The grant program "carries out a goal identified in the 2021 State-sponsored Local Rapid Recovery Plan, to provide funding for businesses to enhance the physical appearance of the main commercial corridors to become a safe and attractive place to do business," according to a statement from the town.

Businesses may be awarded grant funds of up to $25,000. Applicants will provide a matching dollar amount of 10 percent of the total project cost.

Funding will be provided as reimbursements after each project is complete. Guidelines and the application for this program are available on the Wilmington Economic Development Committee website. Applications are due to the Department of Planning & Conservation by 4:30 p.m., Aug. 1. Grant awards are expected to be announced in September 2023.
