The search for a permanent superintendent of schools will begin in February.

WILMINGTON, MA — With hopes of moving on from a tumultuous first half of the school year in 2016, the Wilmington School Committee will begin its search for a new leader of the district.

According to a report by the Lowell Sun, the school committee will meet Monday, Feb. 6 with one item on the agenda, to discuss the plan to recruit and select a new superintendent of schools. The new schools chief will replace Mary DeLai, who resigned from her position in October.

Former permanent superintendent Joanne Benton took the reigns on an interim basis following DeLai's resignation. The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. at the Wilmington High School library, and is open to the public.
