Wilmington Schools To Begin In-Person Learning, Wednesday

The district's transition to hybrid is finally taking place, one month after the school year started.

WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington Public Schools are due to begin in-person learning, Wednesday, weeks after initially planned. The morning cohort of kindergarten students are the first group scheduled for in-person classes.

By the end of the week, all kindergarten, high school and grade 1, 4 and 6 cohorts will have had at least one day in person this week. Full hybrid learning will go into effect Monday.

School started fully remotely, Sept. 16. In August, the School Committee voted to begin remote and phase in hybrid learning at the superintendent's discretion.

Superintendent Glenn Brand initially said hybrid learning could start as early as late September, but he cited staffing needs, union negotiations and supply shortages as causes for delays.
