Wilmington Schools Superintendent Wants 4.6% Budget Increase
The proposed budget hike comes despite continuing declines in enrollment in Wilmington Public Schools.

WILMINGTON, MA -- Superintendent Dr. Glenn Brand proposed a $42.2 million budget for 2019-20, up $1.9 million, or 4.6 percent, from this year. The budget includes a $589,284 increase in spending for special education tuition, a new IT director and a new SPED Inclusion teacher. The budget also includes four fewer teachers and 4.5 fewer teacher aides because of declining enrollment.
Brand is projecting enrollment of 3,239 next year, down from 3,442 in 2015-16. He is scheduled to formally present his budget to the school committee on Jan. 23. A publice hearing on the budget is scheduled for Feb. 13.
