Wilmington Teen That Went Missing In Storm Found Safe

WILMINGTON, MA -- A 16-year-old boy who left his Wilmington home on foot during the height of the snowstorm Thursday was found safe. The boys parents reported Friday morning on Facebook posts that had been shared throughout Thursday afternoon and evening that their son was safe but did not offer any other details.

On Thursday afternoon, the boys parents posted on a Wilmington community Facebook group that their son had left home at foot on 2 pm and his phone had been turned off. Wilmington Police tried to locate the boy using his cellphone signal, but were unable to locate him as the phone was turned off before he left phone.

That original Facebook post was shared extensively on social media. Just before midnight Thursday the boy's mother updated the post's status to say that he was still not home. A subsequent update early Friday morning suggested the boy had still not been found. Police spent the overnight hours conducting an extensive search for the boy and interviewed his friends Wilmington DPW workers were also told to be looking for the boy as they cleared the town's streets following the blizzard.
