The Town of Wilmington’s website is getting a new look. The upgrade is the result of a six-month long design development and content migration effort. The new website will be live by Monday, July 18th. The web address is not changing. To access to the Town’s websitevisit wilmingtonma.gov.
The design is focused on a user-centric layout. The home page now includes quick-click buttons to commonly sought services such as online forms, online bill payment, and the GIS map. A new Help Center, also on the home page, includes access to Frequently Asked Questions, and a new “Who do I talk to about” section.
The design is now dynamic and adjusts to fit the user’s device. The dynamic design makes access from smart phones and tablets easier and more organized for the visitor.
Some of the preferred features of the old site have been carried forward, including a News section on the home page and E-Alerts when content such as news, events, agendas and minutes are added. Existing E-Alert subscribers have been migrated to the new site for convenience.
The new design was developed using current best practices and feedback from users collected through a survey conducted by the Town. Feedback included wanting a more modern site, highlighting online bill pay options, and offering compatibility with mobile devices.
In addition to improving the customer experience, the upgrade has also improved the internal management of the site. The website development tool is cloud-based, allowing content managers to upload and edit information with greater ease and access. It improves content link capabilities ensuring when new content is uploaded it is updated throughout the site, and has a broken-link management system, in addition to a broader range of design capabilities.
Every effort has been made to review and update content prior to the launch, however additional content editing and updating will continue on a regular basis. To visit the website go to wilmingtonma.gov. A brief survey will also be available on the site to provide feedback on the new design and content. For questions or additional information contact the Town Manager’s Office at 978-658-3311.
