There was no doubt that going into Saturday’s game against Waltham that the WYSA 4th Grade A Team would have a challenge on their hands. There was also no doubt that it was going to be one exciting game.
In the first half of the game Goalkeeper Liam Dwyer made some serious saves as the Waltham team brought the heat quick and fast. The second half started with Gavin Erickson taking over as Goalkeeper who also showed us that he too could cover the net. The boys pulled together as a team to play strong defense to ward off a lot of activity down by their goalies. Adam LeBlanc, Tommy Mailinson and Tyler Rourke all played hard and as fast as the Waltham kids. AJ Lavigne showed some serious moves running the ball up and down the field dodging in and out of the way of the Waltham players. Offensively, Evan Lovine made some great passes while Ryan Ackerly, Aidan O’Connell, Matt Ardito and Nick Fanuelle never gave up in challenging the Waltham players.
At the end of the game, Wilmington tied with Waltham 0-0. The stress was palpable on the sidelines from the parents. These kids played one heck of a game! Congrats boys – job well done!
