Weather forecast:
1. Beware: Movie-Prop Money Is Duping Woburn Merchants (patch.com) — Woburn police are warning local businesses that movie-prop cash marked with phrases like “For Motion Picture Use Only” has already fooled some merchants in the city. Officers explain how to spot the fake bills, from identical serial numbers to missing watermarks and unusually smooth paper, and urge Woburn shop owners to be extra cautious when accepting cash payments.
2. In move that could give rise to ‘arts and community' center project… Council adopts resolve to seek proposals for Wyman School lease (homenewshere.com) — Woburn officials have taken a key step toward turning the historic Wyman School in Central Square into a community arts center, unanimously authorizing the mayor to seek lease proposals for the property. The move gives local nonprofit Castle Arts and Community Center its long-sought chance at a long-term lease, while requiring any winning bidder to preserve the landmark 1832 schoolhouse’s historic character.
3. High school roundup/scores: BC High tops Leominster, claims Tewksbury title (bostonherald.com) — Woburn High softball absolutely dominated Belmont 24-0 behind freshman pitcher-hitter Chloe D’Agostino, who fanned 10 and drove in eight runs in a five-inning rout. Her performance headlines a busy regional high school sports day, with other Middlesex League and area teams in baseball, softball, lacrosse, and more also posting notable wins.
4. Boston College Commencement (bc.edu) — Woburn residents may recognize Joyce and Bill Cummings, whose Woburn-based Cummings Properties and New Horizons communities are central to their extensive local philanthropy. Boston College will honor the longtime benefactors with honorary degrees, recognizing decades of support for Woburn, Winchester, and Greater Boston institutions and nonprofits.
