📰 News we're reading

• With Woburn Council Vote, Historic Schoolhouse Inches Closer To New Life: Report (patch.com) — Woburn residents could soon see the long-vacant Wyman School reborn as an arts-focused community center, after the City Council advanced a leasing request to committee. Mayor Michael Concannon plans to solicit proposals for the historic Central Square property, with councilors retaining final say on the schoolhouse’s future use.

• 🅿️ Select Board Removes Parking Spaces on Woburn Street to Address Safety Concerns (readingrecap.com) — Parking is about to get a little tighter near Brande Court as the Select Board voted 4–0 to remove four spaces on Woburn Street to fix a crash-prone pinch point. The change extends an existing no-parking zone so emergency vehicles can pass more easily and drivers aren’t forced into confusing, tight squeezes. Officials say they tried to boost safety while limiting the hit to nearby business parking.

• State Rep. Richard Haggerty stands behind bill honoring Blue Star Families (homenewshere.com) — Woburn’s own State Rep. Richard Haggerty helped pass a statewide bill creating free “Blue Star Family” license plates and emblems for relatives of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. While inspired by Reading’s loss of Officer Tamar Bucci, the measure offers families across Massachusetts a lasting way to honor fallen officers’ service and sacrifice, with unanimous support in the House.
