WOBURN, MA — A 7-week-old kitten found dodging traffic on Route 93 northbound in Woburn last week is safe and will soon be up for adoption out of the Animal Rescue League of Boston.
The ARL said the kitten — which rescuers have named "Freeway" — is lucky to be alive after she was spotted between speeding vehicles on the highway.
The ARL said a Good Samaritan rescued the kitten and turned her over to the rescue organization.
The kitty is now in the care of an ARL foster volunteer while awaiting adoption.
"While Freeway is not yet available for adoption, ARL has many other cats, dogs and other animals of all ages, breeds and personalities looking for homes," an ARL spokesperson told Patch.
The circumstances of how such a young cat could have wound up on the highway by itself were not made available.
Updates on Freeway and information about other pets currently available for adoption can be found here.
