Andover Choral Society presents "Magnificat: from Baroque to Jazz"

Event Details

15 Kenoza Avenue Haverhill, MA

Please join Andover Choral Society, directed by Matthew Buono, for our Winter concert entitled "Magnificat: From Baroque to Jazz" on Sunday, February 1, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. at the Universalist Unitarian Church of Haverhill in Haverhill, MA.This winter production explores the timeless beauty of the Magnificat text through two contrasting musical interpretations. The program opens with Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach's elegant Baroque setting of The Magnificat, showcasing the classical refinement and dramatic expressiveness that distinguished C.P.E. Bach from his more famous father. The concert then shifts to contemporary sounds with Christoph Schönherr's Magnificat, subtitled "The Groovy Version of OX," which reimagines the sacred text through a jazz-infused modern lens.Joining the Chorus will be Soprano Megan Weikleenget, Alto Morgan Beckford, Tenor Jason J. Wang, and Baritone Brandon Grimes.Concert tickets are available for $25 in advance ($30 at the door) and $10 for students. Patrons presenting an EBT card are eligible for a $5 ticket.  A group rate of ten tickets for $20 each is also available. To purchase tickets and for more information click here.
Street parking is available on both Kenoza Avenue and Ashland Street and is handicapped accessible at the Ashland Street entrance.
