SFD provides students with a solid foundation in apparel design and construction, and the skills required for a successful career in fashion. Our technical Certificate program is taught by experts in the field of fashion design. Students may take courses toward the Certificate or on a class-by-class basis to fill professional education interests. For creatives and textile arts enthusiasts, SFD offers workshops in various fiber arts such as weaving, lace making, embroidery, millinery, upcycling, and more. As an SFD student, you will join a diverse community of emerging designers. Our studios are filled with recent high school graduates, students from nearby colleges enriching their education with fashion, and working professionals embarking on a new career path. The program is geared toward parents of in-coming freshmen. According to Joyce Middle School officials, the program "is to provide parents with an overview of the WMHS curriculum, freshman course offerings and information about the course selection process." A panel of administrators, department heads and students will be on hand to speak to parents about their experiences at WMHS. Students will have an opportunity to visit WMHS later this year.
