School Officials Looking for Hurld-Wyman Project Support
Officials consider petitioning the state School Building Authority.

Superintendent of Schools Mark Donovan suggested that the School Committee consider preparing to file a “Statement of Interest” with the Massachusetts School Building Authority for the . Applications will be considered in the fall, he said.
It would be premature for the School Committee to vote on the statement now, Donovan said.
School Committee member John Wells recommended that the committee start to build support on the City Council for the project.

The best place for a new Wyman-Hurld elementary school would be part of , said School Committee member Joseph Crowley. But that would not be “pragmatic,” he said, until the city’s is resolved. He suggested that the city sell the Wyman and Hurld school properties, with proceeds going to buy a new school site. The real estate market is still down, he said.
