Stop & Shop delivered 1,000 frozen turkeys as well as 1,000 reusable bags to the Worcester County Food Bank (WFCB) as part of it’s Turkey Express initiative. Local Worcester Stop & Shop Store Managers Ibrahim Khoury and Nancy Kinney presented the donation to Jean McMurray, CEO of WFCB, to support its efforts this holiday season.

Last year, WCFB distributed enough food for 6 million meals including fresh produce, dairy, perishable and non-perishable products through its network of 115 Partner Agencies benefitting 93,000 people from all 60 cities and towns in Worcester County. Now through Thanksgiving, Stop & Shop will donate nearly 22,000 turkeys to more than 30 community partners as part of its annual Turkey Express initiative, which has run for more than 10 years. The grocery chain is also inviting shoppers to help raise money for its 13 regional food bank partners as well as donate most-needed items for local food pantries by taking part in its in-store “Food for Friends” program, which runs November 6 - November 26.

Of the donation, Jean McMurray, CEO of WFCB, shares the following, "With food insecurity remaining a challenge in every community especially during this pandemic, this donation will help the efforts of the Worcester County Food Bank and its network of food pantries to provide food for Thanksgiving Day to approximately 13,900 families throughout Worcester County."
