1 Dead After Bicycle Crash on Southbridge Street

A man suffered serious injuries, and later died, after colliding with a parked tow truck on Southbridge Street.

WORCESTER, MA—A man was killed after he suffered injuries when his bike collided with a tow truck on Southbridge Street Thursday morning.

On Oct. 20, at 11:15 p.m., Worcester police were called to the area of 525 Southbridge St., where a man lay unconscious in the road, partially under the bed of a tow truck with a bicycle in the road nearby.

The 45-year-old man suffered from serious injuries and was driven to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators say the victim was driving his bicycle south on Southbridge Street when he collided with the rear of a tow truck that was legally parked and unoccupied on the side of the street.

Investigators are still processing the scene and attempting to recover potential video evidence from area surveillance cameras. The victim’s name is not being released at this time pending notification of the family.
