1 Injured In Shooting Near Downtown Worcester

Worcester police said Javier Camacho was arrested after shooting a man along Goulding Street.

WORCESTER, MA — Worcester police arrested a 38-year-old man Tuesday night following a shooting along Goulding Street that left one person injured.

The shooting happened around 6:30 p.m., according to police. The victim was shot in the leg and treated at a local hospital for what was believed to be a non-life threatening injury.

Shortly after the shooting, police pulled over Javier Camacho along Dix Street, just south of where the shooting occurred. Camacho was arrested and charged with armed assault to murder, using a gun during a felony, and a host of gun law violations, police said.

It was the second shooting in Worcester in recent days. On Sunday night, a man was shot in the neck along Austin Street. Police did not immediately make any arrests in that incident.
