16-Year-Old Arrested After Crompton Park Shooting In Worcester

A 16-year-old was injured in the May 7 shooting at the park, police said.

WORCESTER, MA — A 16-year-old Worcester boy was arrested Thursday in connection to a shooting last week at Crompton Park in the Green Island neighborhood.

Worcester officers went to the park just before 8 p.m. on May 7 on a report of shots fired. They found a 16-year-old victim at the scene. He was taken to a local hospital, but was expected to recover, police said.

Worcester police did not immediately say what charges the 16-year-old would face.

The May 7 shooting was the second in the vicinity of Crompton Park this month. On May 6, two men — ages 19 and 20 — were found with gunshot wounds outside a home near Sigel and Bigelow streets, which is about one block north of the park. Police have not announced any arrests in connection to that shooting.
