WORCESTER, MA — The Worcester Housing Authority (WHA) have announced a planned $178 million redevelopment of the Curtis Apartments, a 371-unit public housing site in the Great Brook Valley neighborhood.

The developer Trinity Financial will redevelop just under 200 units at the Curtis site, and add about 100 new apartments, according to WHA.

"This is not just an opportunity to provide our current residents better housing, but also allows us to create new apartments in our efforts to address the affordable housing needs of the city," WHA CEO Alex Corrales said in a news release.

According to images released by WHA, four new residential buildings will replace on the northeast side of the site along Brookview Drive and Boylston Street. The plans also call for new sports fields at Great Brook Valley Park, including a new soccer field, basketball courts and tennis courts.

Boston-based Trinity Financial has been involved in public housing redevelopments across the northeast, from Boston to Brooklyn. The Curtis Apartments project will largely be funded by the state Department of Housing and Community Development.
