WORCESTER, MA — Two men were shot while riding in a car on Vernon Hill Tuesday night — and then a passerby stole money after the victims abandoned the vehicle, according to police.

The incident happened just after 9 p.m. near Perry Avenue. Two men were sitting in a car when someone began shooting at them. The driver suffered serious injuries, and the passenger suffered minor injuries but did not need medical care, police said.

After the shooting, the two victims crashed their vehicle and then got out. A 36-year-old man from Charlton then went inside the vehicle and stole cash from inside, police said. He was arrested near the scene and charged with larceny over $1,200.

The incident was still under investigation as of Wednesday afternoon, and police did not immediately announce any arrests related to the shooting.
