27 Named To Assumption Field Hockey Team

Assumption College Department of Athletics named 27 people to the field hockey team, including two Worcester natives.

WORCESTER, MA - From the Assumption College Grey Hounds: The Assumption College Department of Athletics has announced that 27 student athletes have earned a coveted spot on the 2017 Assumption College Field Hockey team. Local student athletes include:

Lauren Giard of Worcester (01606), Class of 2019
Anne Spellane of Worcester (01609), Class of 2021

"Whether competing on the field, learning in the classroom, or serving our Assumption and Worcester communities, student athletes at Assumption are known to thrive," said Annie Lahey, Assumption College head field hockey coach. "This year's field hockey team maintains a strong core of veteran players which is enhanced as we welcomed a number of first-year players eager to compete at the collegiate level."

The Women's Field Hockey team is a member of the competitive Northeast10 Conference. Last season, the team finished with an overall record of 10-8 and advanced to the Northeast10 Conference Championship game last year. The Hounds were ranked fifth in the Conference preseason poll.
