3 NY Men Flee To Worcester After Mass Pike Chase: Police

State police arrested and charged the men after finding suspected cocaine and a gun in a car.

WORCESTER, MA — State police arrested three New York men after a pursuit along the Mass Pike Wednesday afternoon.

According to state police, a trooper tried to pull over a stolen Mercedes sedan near the I-84 interchange. The driver pulled over near the Charlton state police barracks, but then sped away, police reported.

Two troopers pursued the driver, but gave up due to unsafe conditions. Troopers later found the car at a shopping plaza in Worcester, police said.

Police were able to watch surveillance footage from the shopping plaza and identified three men seen getting out of the Mercedes. The men were found in the parking lot and arrested.

Inside the Mercedes, troopers found two kilograms of cocaine and a loaded handgun, police said. The three men arrested include:

Manuel Pimentel, 18, of New York City, and Edison Baez, 20, of Port Jefferson were charged with: receiving stolen property worth more than $1,200; carrying a loaded gun; conspiracy to violate drug laws; trafficking cocaine; receiving a stolen car; possession of ammunition without a license; possession of a gun in commission of a felony.

Brian Hernandez, 21, of New York City, was charged with: receiving stolen property worth more than $1,200; carrying a loaded gun; trafficking cocaine; receiving a stolen car; possession of ammunition without a license; possession of a gun in commission of a felony.
