UMass Chan Leaders Among MA's Highest Paid State Workers
Overall, employees in the University of Massachusetts system earned about $1.82 billion.
WORCESTER, MA — Three leaders at UMass Chan Medical School in Worcester ranked among the five highest-paid state employees in Massachusetts last year, according to statewide payroll data.
UMass Chan Chancellor Michael F. Collins, Executive Deputy Chancellor Terence R. Flotte, and Executive Vice Chancellor for Innovation & Business Development Partha Chakrabarti were among the state's top earners in 2025.
Collins, who also serves as the medical school's senior vice president for health sciences, earned $1.57 million in 2025.
Flotte, the school's executive deputy chancellor and provost, as well as dean of the T.H. Chan School of Medicine, was paid $1.18 million during the year.
Chakrabarti earned $1.01 million in his role as executive vice chancellor overseeing innovation and business development at the medical school.
Overall, employees in the University of Massachusetts system earned about $1.82 billion.
The highest-paid state employee in 2025 was UMass head basketball coach Francisco Martin, who earned $2.18 million. UMass head football coach Joseph Harasymiak is ranked third with a salary of $1.41 million.
