5 Teens Charged After Worcester Drug Bust
Investigators found nearly 80 grams of crack cocaine and 33 grams of fentanyl packaged for sale, police said.
WORCESTER, MA — Five teenagers are facing charges after officers searched a Worcester apartment on Sunday connected to suspected drug distribution and gang activity, police said.
Alexander Abreu, 18, Niziah Colon, 18, Denisse Santiago, 18, and a 17-year-old boy were charged with cocaine and fentanyl trafficking, police said. A second 17-year-old boy was charged with interfering with police and resisting arrest.
Vice detectives obtained a search warrant for an apartment on Preston Street after a lengthy investigation into crack cocaine and fentanyl sales, police said. Investigators identified the apartment as a location where drugs were stored before being distributed throughout the Main South neighborhood.
Police said the apartment had also been linked to recent gang-related activity.
At about 8 p.m., members of the Worcester Police Department's Vice Squad, Gang Unit and Crime Gun Intelligence Unit approached the apartment with K-9 officers and officers from the department's Operations Division. Detectives knocked, announced their presence and entered the apartment, police said.
During the search, investigators found about 78 grams of crack cocaine and 33 grams of fentanyl packaged for sale, along with drug-packaging materials, digital scales and a large amount of cash, according to police.
Abreu, Colon, Santiago and the juvenile were each charged with trafficking 36 to 99 grams of cocaine, trafficking 18 to 36 grams of a Class A substance and trafficking more than 10 grams of fentanyl.
As detectives transferred the four suspects to a police wagon, another 17-year-old boy repeatedly approached officers and interfered with the transfer, police said. Officers arrested him after they said he ignored several commands to keep his distance.
Framingham police K-9 officers assisted Worcester police during the investigation.
