8 New Officers Sworn In To Worcester Police Department
Worcester police welcome eight new officers to the squad.

WORCESTER, MA—Eight new officers can proudly say they serve and protect Worcester.
A swearing-in ceremony was held last Friday at City Hall for eight new police officers, part of the 35 Worcester police candidates who were welcomed to the department last week during the first day of the Worcester Police Academy.
Twenty-seven recruits will attend the academy’s 24-week training program, while eight candidates have previous police academy training, said the announcement. The eight new officers will first be assigned to foot patrols in various areas of the city, and then supervisors pair the rookies with experienced officers to patrol city neighborhoods. Also during this training program, they will gain experience thorough motor patrols.
