WAYLAND, MA — Wayland residents will have a chance to safely dispose of unused or expired medications later this month during National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
The Wayland Police Department announced it will hold the collection event on Saturday, Apr. 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the police department, 38 Cochituate Road. Community members may drop off unneeded medications for safe disposal, according to the department announcement.
The event is part of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, a program supported locally by the police department. In its announcement, the department said the effort is intended to provide a safe, secure way to dispose of prescription medications no longer needed.
“We encourage all residents to check their homes for unwanted medications,” town officials said. “Proper and safe disposal helps reduce the risk of accidental poisoning, misuse, and environmental harm.”
The drop-off event is open to community members looking to clear out medicine cabinets and dispose of medications in a secure setting. The department did not list any additional participation requirements in the announcement.
