WORCESTER — Worcester State University is stepping in to support students at Anna Maria College after the institution announced it will cease academic operations following the Spring 2026 semester, prompting a regional response to help undergraduates continue their education without disruption.
The announcement comes one day after news broke that Anna Maria College will close at the end of the spring term, affecting current students across multiple programs.
In response, Worcester State University announced a partnership to provide guaranteed transfer pathways and degree-completion options for Anna Maria undergraduates in good academic and social standing.
Under the agreement, eligible students will receive guaranteed admission to Worcester State, waived application fees, access to residential housing and dedicated support services to ease the transition. University officials also confirmed that student-athletes from Anna Maria who meet eligibility requirements will be welcomed into Worcester State’s athletics programs.
“Worcester State is committed to supporting students during this transition and ensuring they have clear, affordable paths to complete their degrees,” the university said in its announcement.
To help students and families navigate next steps, Worcester State will host a welcome and information event on campus this Saturday, Apr. 25, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The session will include details on degree completion options, as well as opportunities to meet staff from Admissions, Athletics, and the Academic Success Center. Campus tours will also be offered, and a complimentary lunch will be provided.
Interested students can register for the event and learn more about transfer options here.
The partnership is one of the first major regional responses following Anna Maria College’s announcement of its closure, as local institutions begin coordinating support for displaced students across Central Massachusetts.
