Worcester Celebrates Reopening Of Revamped Community Gym (patch.com) — Worcester residents are invited to celebrate the reopening of the YWCA Central Massachusetts’ revamped gym with a free “One Court. One Community” basketball event on May 2. The Worcester Majors will play a live community game, meet fans, and begin using the downtown facility as their official training and youth engagement hub, with clinics and mentorship programs planned for local youth.
2. GBH News Moves Worcester Bureau Into Worcester Public Library (patch.com) — GBH News has moved its Worcester Bureau into the Worcester Public Library, aiming to be closer to where city residents gather and share ideas. Reporter Sam Turken will continue covering Worcester’s housing, education and economy, while the partnership adds community events and public forums that highlight Central Massachusetts voices in statewide conversations.
3. 2 Teens Charged After Multiple Firearms Seized in Worcester (patch.com) — Worcester residents are learning more about a tense police incident on Houghton Street where officers chased three males and recovered multiple illegal firearms, including weapons with machine gun conversion devices. Two teens from Worcester and Fitchburg now face a long list of firearms charges, and one officer was briefly hospitalized with a shoulder injury as the investigation continues.
4. Clark University Announces New Masters For Practicing Teachers (patch.com) — Worcester educators may be especially interested in Clark University’s new Master of Education program, which offers three free courses to Worcester Public Schools teachers.
