WORCESTER, MA — A 25-year-old man is facing drug trafficking charges after police searched a home and a car in the city earlier this week, police said.
Worcester detectives executed search warrants a Hamilton Street apartment and a Silver Nissan Rogue on Wednesday, according to police. The target of the warrants was John Diaz.
Police said that at about 1:30 p.m., Diaz was seen leaving the building with his girlfriend and walking toward the Nissan Rogue when Vice Detectives approached to detain them and carry out the warrants.
Police reported that as Diaz was being detained, he yelled multiple times toward the apartment to alert the people inside to the detectives' presence. Vice Detectives then entered the apartment, where they found two females and one male inside, according to Worcester police.
Worcester police said that after Diaz was read his Miranda rights, he directed detectives to a safe in his room and stated that it contained cocaine. Detectives opened the safe with keys seized from Diaz, police reported.
Detectives recovered about 38 grams of cocaine, 3 grams of fentanyl, pills and a digital scale from the safe, police said. They also reported finding used packaging materials and drug-processing equipment.
Diaz was arrested and is being charged with Trafficking Cocaine 36-99 grams, Possession to Distribute Class A (Fentanyl) and Possession to Distribute Class B (Adderall pills), according to Worcester police.
