Popular Coffee Franchise To Open 2 Shops In Worcester (patch.com) — Worcester coffee lovers can look forward to two new Identity Coffee Co. locations, both planned inside city apartment complexes on Green Island Boulevard and Shrewsbury Street. With licenses approved, the company aims to serve nearby residents, students, and UMass Chan Medical School commuters with community-focused spaces and specialty coffee, supplied by its Westminster roastery.
2. New Middle Eastern-Style Coffee, Nut Shop To Open In Central MA (patch.com) — Worcester residents will soon get a new spot for Middle Eastern-style coffee, nuts, and desserts when Roast and Raha opens on Stafford Street. After winning license approval, the shop plans to roast nuts on site, highlight Turkish coffee, and offer a cozy dining area with daily hours tailored to neighborhood customers.
3. Worcester College Students Create Video Game To Reduce Social Isolation (patch.com) — Worcester readers can look to Clark University’s Becker School of Design & Technology, where about 80 students are building video game tools to help people with schizophrenia and psychosis ease social isolation. Working with the Schizophrenia & Psychosis Action Alliance, the Worcester-based teams created prototype “serious games” to strengthen communication and connection, and plan to continue the effort with a fall symposium on digital tools for isolation.
4. Worcester Breaks Ground On New Resource Center For Year-Round Shelter, Services (patch.com) — Worcester officials and advocates have broken ground on the new Worcester Resource Center at 134 Gold St., a year-round hub for residents experiencing homelessness. The 20,000-square-foot facility, expected to open in 2026, will centralize shelter from extreme weather along with housing, employment help, and basic services like showers, laundry, storage, and charging stations.
5. Worcester To Mark Annual Haitian Flag Day With City Hall Flag-Raising (patch.com) — Worcester residents are invited to City Hall on May 18 for the city’s 11th Annual Haitian Flag Day Celebration, featuring a flag-raising, singing, and community remarks. Organized by the Haitian-American Socio-Cultural Association of Worcester, the event honors Haitian heritage and the resilience and contributions of the local Haitian community. Families and supporters from across the region are welcome to attend.
