Worcester Schools To Induct 2026 Athletic Hall Of Fame Class

WORCESTER, MA — Worcester Public Schools will honor a new class of standout athletes, coaches and teams at the annual WPS Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Friday.

The event, presented by the Worcester Educational Development Foundation, will take place at the Hogan Center at the College of the Holy Cross. This year, 12 alumni and one historic team will be recognized for their contributions to WPS athletics.

The Hall of Fame celebrates individuals and teams who have made a lasting impact on school sports programs across the district.

2026 WPS Athletic Hall of Fame inductees include:

• Tammy (Murphy) Bailey - Cross Country and Track
  • South High Community School, Class of 1986
• Wayde Bovaird - Football and Baseball
  • Burncoat High School, Class of 1977
• Jahkari Carpenter - Football and Baseball
  • Doherty Memorial High School, Class of 2015
• Judy Cusick - Softball, Field Hockey, Basketball and Soccer
  • Doherty Memorial High School, Class of 1986
• Eddy Frazier - Football and Track
  • Burncoat High School, Class of 2011
• Tishaun Jenkins - Basketball
  • Worcester Technical High School, Class of 1996
• Robert Kelley - Baseball, Basketball and Football
  • South High Community School, Class of 1985
• Coach Elaine McKay - Tennis, Basketball, and Field Hockey coach
  • Burncoat High School
• Coach Sean Mulcahy - Football coach
  • Doherty Memorial High School, Class of 1983
• Leigh Trzcinski - Softball, Basketball and Cross Country
  • South High Community School, Class of 2006
• Todd Walles - Baseball, Football, and Basketball
  • Doherty Memorial High School, Class of 1988 (Posthumous)

• Burncoat High School Boys Basketball Team (1989–1990)

Proceeds from the event will support Worcester’s 165 athletic teams by helping fund equipment and uniforms, ensuring students have access to sports opportunities across the district.

Worcester Public Schools note the cost of participation continues to rise, outfitting a single football player can approach $1,000.

The ceremony serves as both a celebration of past achievements and an investment in the future of student athletics in Worcester Public Schools.
