WORCESTER, MA — The city is seeking proposals for a new operator to oversee event operations at Union Station’s historic Grand Hall, along with restaurant and outdoor patio space inside the downtown transportation hub.

The Worcester Redevelopment Authority announced on Friday it is accepting proposals from qualified individuals, companies and organizations to lease about 15,535 square feet on the first floor of Union Station at 10 Washington Sq.

This comes as the current lease with Maxwell Lucianos is set to expire on Jun. 30.

The space includes operation of the Grand Hall banquet and conference facility, about 6,130 square feet of restaurant and commissary space and approximately 225 square feet of outdoor patio space.

Union Station encompasses roughly 100,000 square feet overall, with about half designated as leasable space. The landmark building features a 2,700-square-foot rotunda and a restored Grand Hall spanning approximately 9,180 square feet that hosts weddings, conferences, special events and other functions.

According to the request for proposals, the city is seeking operators capable of managing the event venue and food service components of the property.

Proposals must be submitted to the Worcester Redevelopment Authority in Room 402 at Worcester City Hall, 455 Main St., by 10 a.m. Friday, June 26.

Interested proposers may tour the property with a WRA representative at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 20, and again at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 3.

The request for proposals is open to all prospective proposers that meet the objectives and requirements outlined in the RFP specifications.
