WORCESTER, MA — Worcester police are warning residents to lock their vehicles after a recent cluster of car break-ins in the city.
Several vehicles in the Route 4 area have been targeted in recent weeks, with many of the cars left unlocked, according to the Worcester Police Department.
Police did not share the exact locations of the break-ins, but said the incidents serve as an important reminder for residents to always lock their car doors and avoid leaving valuables inside.
The warning comes less than a week after police in neighboring Westborough issued a similar alert following an increase in overnight vehicle break-ins in town and surrounding communities.
According to the Westborough Police Department, officers received numerous reports over several days involving vehicles being entered overnight. In some cases, vehicles left with keys inside were stolen, police said.
Authorities in both communities are urging residents to remain vigilant by locking vehicles, removing valuables from sight and never leaving keys inside unattended cars.
