18 Charged In Multi-State Drug Ring Tied To Worcester County

The group is accused of using a Worcester County business to launder drug proceeds through multiple financial institutions.

WORCESTER, MA — Nearly 20 individuals are facing charges in connection with an alleged drug trafficking and money laundering operation based in Worcester County.

A group of 11 Massachusetts residents has been charged with conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute controlled substances, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts. Seven additional individuals from states across the country were also charged in connection with the operation.

Hai Son Pham, 39, of Gardner, led a drug trafficking organization operating in northern Worcester County, according to the USAO. Prosecutors say Pham and his co-conspirators distributed and possessed large quantities of cocaine, marijuana, counterfeit pills and other controlled substances across the country, including in Massachusetts, New Jersey, Florida, Oklahoma, California, Texas, Washington and Hawaii.

Pham’s co-conspirators from Massachusetts include Kelly Breault, 41, of Leominster; Boonphet Sysoumang, 42, of Gardner; Rafael Moreno, 38, of Leominster; Courtney Spaulding, 42, of Leominster; Rhonda Reed, of Winchendon; Kenneth Godfrey, 59, of Phillipston; Scorpio Ramos, 41, of Fitchburg; Gary Boucher, 46, of Shirley; David Vega, 37, of Fitchburg; and Jose Garcia, 36, of Chicopee, the USAO said.

Pham registered and controlled Infinite Painting, a local commercial and residential painting company based in Gardner. He and his conspirators are accused of using the business to launder drug proceeds through multiple financial institutions by concealing the illegal source of the funds, officials said.

If convicted, the defendants could face sentences of up to 20 years in prison.
