WORCESTER, MA — A Worcester university has joined a statewide transfer program aimed at helping community college students earn bachelor’s degrees at a lower cost.
Clark University signed a memorandum of understanding this spring with the New England Board of Higher Education to join the Massachusetts Transfer Guarantee, a partnership between community colleges and four-year colleges and universities that creates a pathway for eligible students to transfer into bachelor’s degree programs.
The program guarantees admission for qualifying students who complete an associate degree and meet eligibility criteria. Students do not have to pay an application fee or submit an admission essay, and they enroll with junior status after transferring associate degree credits.
“Clark is thrilled to join the Massachusetts Guarantee because it reflects our commitment to widening access to a transformative college education, strengthening pathways for talented community college students, and ensuring that more students from across Massachusetts can thrive at Clark,” Laurie Ross, Clark’s associate provost and dean of the college, said.
Across Massachusetts, 2,219 students had transferred through the Guarantee as of the 2024-2025 academic year, according to data released in March by the New England Board of Higher Education. Another 609 students had earned bachelor’s degrees from their four-year transfer destinations through the program.
