WORCESTER, MA — Ten Worcester adults recently completed a financial literacy program designed to help neurodivergent learners build practical money skills.
The graduates, all participants in Seven Hills Foundation’s ASPiRE! program, completed a free five-session course created through a collaboration between Workers Credit Union and Seven Hills Foundation. A completion ceremony was held last week at Stearns Tavern in Worcester.
The program focused on everyday financial skills, including distinguishing wants from needs, planning a budget, writing checks, interacting with bank tellers and protecting against fraud and scams.
Workers Credit Union and Seven Hills Foundation developed the curriculum specifically around how neurodivergent adults communicate and learn. The lessons used closed captioning, hands-on activities and teaching materials tested with Seven Hills staff.
The graduating students were Scott Raymond, Teresa Bonanno, Lauren Butler, Jonathan Gardner, Jaclyn Sommers, Kyle McMahon-Negrotti, Keith Audet, Naideisha Robledo, Thomas Sheldon and Steven Wilkey.
The June 23 graduation marked the second cohort to complete the pilot program. Workers Credit Union and Seven Hills Foundation said they plan to continue and expand the program for more ASPiRE! students with financial literacy goals.
