Worcester To Celebrate Brooks Dairy Farm Open Space Acquisition

WORCESTER, MA — The city will mark the preservation of a former farm property next week with a ribbon cutting in the city’s north end.

Worcester will hold the ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, at the Brooks Dairy Farm property entrance from the Nelson Place Elementary School parking lot at 35 Nelson Place. The event will celebrate the city’s acquisition of 7.7 acres of open space, and an optional walking tour led by municipal staff and the Greater Worcester Land Trust will begin at 6 p.m.

The land, known as Brooks Dairy Farm, was acquired for conservation purposes. The city will hold ownership of the property and grant a conservation restriction to the Greater Worcester Land Trust, according to a City of Worcester announcement about the project’s Community Preservation Act funding.

The acquisition received $55,009.50 through Worcester’s first round of Community Preservation Act awards, which included open space, recreation, historic preservation and housing projects, according to the city.

The Greater Worcester Land Trust helps conserve more than 3,100 acres of land in Worcester and surrounding communities, according to the organization.
