WORCESTER, MA — A Worcester man is facing charges after detectives searched a Grafton Street restaurant and a nearby apartment as part of a drug investigation, police said.
Davial Kirkpatrick, 45, was the target of two search warrants tied to an investigation into crack cocaine distribution from "The Spot" restaurant at 314 Grafton St. and an adjacent apartment on Cutler Street, according to Worcester police.
At about 7:10 a.m. on Wednesday, vice detectives saw Kirkpatrick leave the residence and begin walking toward the restaurant, police said. When detectives approached, Kirkpatrick tried to run up Grafton Street but was quickly detained, according to police.
Police said the restaurant keys were found on the ground where Kirkpatrick was detained. Other vice detectives, Emergency Operations personnel and a Worcester police K-9 entered the first-floor apartment, and the keys were later used to enter and secure the restaurant, police said.
During the search, detectives found about 350 grams of cocaine, 5 grams of fentanyl, digital scales, large amounts of cash, drug processing materials and personal paperwork for Kirkpatrick in the rear office of the restaurant, according to police.
In Kirkpatrick's bedroom on Cutler Street, police said they found an AR-15-style rifle, an AR-15-style pistol, three large-capacity 30-round magazines loaded with ammunition and a large amount of cash. Kirkpatrick does not have a license to carry firearms, police said.
Police said about $65,000 was seized from the apartment and business.
Kirkpatrick was charged with trafficking more than 200 grams of cocaine and several firearms offenses, according to police. Worcester vice detectives credited the Framingham Police Department K-9 unit with assisting in the search.
