Worcester Man Accused Of Climbing Onto Roof Of CT Home

WORCESTER, MA — A Worcester man is facing charges after police said he climbed onto the roof of a home in Thompson, Connecticut.

Brian Francis Carroll, 23, was charged earlier this month with second-degree criminal trespass and second-degree breach of peace after troopers responded to a home on Thompson Road at about 6:07 a.m. on July 11, according to Connecticut State Police.

Police said the homeowner reported hearing noises from the roof before finding Carroll, shirtless and wearing only shorts, standing on top of the residence. The homeowner and his elderly parents did not know Carroll, according to police.

Carroll showed signs of alcohol intoxication and admitted drinking before climbing onto the roof, police said. He told troopers that friends had dropped him off on Thompson Road and dared him to climb onto the roof of a random home before leaving him there, police said.

Police said Carroll tried to flee into a nearby wooded area, but the homeowner and his father verbally detained him until troopers arrived.

The homeowner told police his 75-year-old mother was extremely frightened and that he feared for the safety of his 82-year-old father as Carroll attempted to leave, according to the summary.

Carroll was released on a $500 non-surety bond and was scheduled to appear July 24 in Danielson Superior Court.
